On November 21, our group hosted a departmental colloquium by Professor Kyung-Jin Lee (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, KAIST). The talk title is “Longitudinal Spin Pumping and Quantum Spin Transfer”. Details of the event can be found on the official page

In this colloquium, Prof. Lee discussed a new direction in spintronics. While previous “spin-pumping” studies have focused on transverse spin pumping arising from classical magnetization dynamics, his work targets longitudinal spin pumping driven by quantum fluctuations. His talk also covered quantum spin transfer from strongly correlated electron pairs, providing a testbed for the validity of the independent-electron approximation in spin-transfer dynamics.

Prof. Lee joined us as a Visiting Professor during October–November 2025, and throughout his stay, he engaged actively with our group. We are very grateful for his valuable contributions to our group throughout his visit and for sharing his latest research results in this colloquium.
