We were excited to host Prof. Zhi-Xun Shen from Stanford University for a Physics Department Colloquium, where he gave a talk titled:
"Local Probe of Bulk and Edge States in a Fractional Chern Insulator."
Prof. Shen is an internationally renowned condensed matter physicist, well recognized for his research on quantum materials, including high-temperature superconductors, topological phases, and novel two-dimensional materials.
He pioneered the use of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) to reveal how electrons behave in complex quantum phases. He has also co-developed microwave impedance microscopy, a powerful technique that allows mapping electronic properties at the nanoscale.
Big thanks to him for the inspiring seminar!
